A note from Mr Sadowsky:

-Unless it is below zero or pouring rain, teacher led classes will be outside for the remainder of the year, including light snow. Classes with me will be outside beginning in May for the remainder of the year. With the Covid numbers going up and the new variants, it is much safer to have classes spread out outside and the class in the gym having the entire gym to also be able to spread out more. A  large number of schools have been outside all year due to Covid concerns and this is for the safety of our students and staff.

Volunteer Parent Patrollers are here for your safety!
With COVID restrictions this year we are unable to have student volunteers as Patrollers.
However, thanks to the amazing members of parent council, we now have Volunteer Parent Patrollers ready to help our students use the crosswalks safely.
Reminders:
Please watch for the parents in bright yellow and orange vests at front of the school and the NE corner just outside the compound.
Students and parents who walk to and from school, say hi and let the Parent Patrollers know you need to cross, then wait until the Parent Patrollers say it is safe to cross.
Students and parents in cars, please be patient and wait until everyone is out of the crosswalk and the Parent Patrollers lower their sign for you to drive on through.
Thank you for your cooperation and help with keeping Beddington School safe!

Today in room 5:

We started our day with some reading and catch up time to finish our liquid and non liquid pages from the previous day.

Room 5 then went off to gym with Mr Sadowsky to compete in the Beddington Olympics!

After a quick morning meeting we began writing about the characters we created from the previous day. As a class we reviewed how all characters have feelings, personalities and their own appearance. Students then used sentence starters to start journaling about their characters.

After recess in the field we had some time on Mathletics! Today's focus was questions all about the days of the week, months of the year and using terms such as yesterday and tomorrow.

When we finished lunch we had some time to do math centres. I currently have 6 centres for the students to choose from. They cannot do the same centre back to back. The centres are:
- Telling time
- Working with money
- Pattern blocks making pictures using 2D shapes, and patterns
-Number of the day
-Build it word problems
-Make a pattern using coloured squares

I will try to switch up some of the centers each week to keep them relevant to what we are learning!

Next came social time.
Today we planned our trip to Meteghan, Nova Scotia! We used a to do list to help us with the planning.
To do list:
  1. Look into where we we are going (Using tourism videos of Nova Scotia)
  2. Find out the weather for today and tomorrow (Using the weather network)
  3. Plan what clothes we will need to bring (Drawing and adding labels to a picture of ourselves)
  4. Print off our plane tickets
At 12:50 we were ready to board! Our classroom turned into a plane and Captain Lancee flew us off to Meteghan! We observed the landforms, bodies of water and what the homes looked like as we flew.

We finished off our day by reading to someone or listening to reading on Razkids.

Twas a busy but wonderful day!
Have a great evening everyone :)
Mr Lancee
