Today in room 5:
Students began their day with 30 mins of catch up time to finish their Care for Place writing and What I Know, All about me reflection. The care for place writing was started Thursday and was a reflection on how students can care for their school and homes. Students brainstormed ideas such as,
-Make my bed
-Clean up my toys
-Throw garbage in the garbage bin
-Clean my desk tray
This is then written using the sentence: I care for place by...
The What I Know reflection related to the students sharing what they have learned or know how to do. We will be sharing these alongside our What I love next week with the class.
After our morning work we moved in our morning meeting and calendar.
Next we had phys. ed outside on the baseball diamond before heading in for snack.
In writing we had our first Star Student writing in which the students drew the specific student from class. They interviewed the student with 5 questions which we transformed into 3 full sentences. Students wrote these sentences into their Star student sheets. We will compile the book of star students and send them home when they are finished!
We finished our day with math. During this time I introduced the students to Mathletics on Ipads. This website is a fantastic in school and at home resource in which the students can do math practice related to what we are doing in class. Their answers and scores are sent directly to me and I can assign additional materials.
Log ins were added to student's math books today. Additional log ins will be sent home Monday for at home use!
We finished up our day with a desk and room clean before heading home!
