Today in room 5:
The students began their day with our usual morning reading and catch up time. During this time I have started doing guided reading with students to do some one to one reading and soon small group reading.
We then moved into our morning routine with calendar, the weather, days in school, number of the day, and a sorting activity.
Follow the link to try a sorting activity game below!
We spent a good chunk of the calendar practicing the order of the days of the week and which month we are in.
Try this game below to practice the days of the week!
After calendar we moved into printing practice with the letter Tt. We practiced sounding out the letter and finding words that had the letter at the start. Finally we moved into practicing the actual printing of T and t. Below is some practice for students who were away or want to practice at home.
We are going to be making trees in the fall to celebrate the coming of the new season! I will upload my example once it is complete and then the work will be posted in our room!
After lunch did some mindfulness before getting our new library books for the week.
In gym we started compound games on the playground using balls, skipping ropes and the painted lines.
In Math, the students worked on the next two pages of their pattern books. We worked on ABC and AAB patterns today using scissors and glue.
Below are the three pages we have completed so far for anyone who has been away! These pages can be printed and cut/glued at home as well :)
Small Crawling Flying Creatures!
We started off by brainstorming what this topic was actually about... Insects, spiders, slugs and worms!
Then we brainstormed ideas about what we know about insects. Below are some of the students ideas.
We then watched parts of this video:
This helped the students to brainstorm some questions that they wondered about insects and spiders!
What do you wonder about small crawling flying creatures?
Have a great day everyone!!
