Happy Friday January 15, 2021!
Hope everyone had a fantastic week!
Today in room 5:
We began our day with some time to catch up on our Planning for our trip to Iqaluit weather and clothing activity. Yesterday we predicted the temperature and weather in Iqaluit, then looked up the actual temperature and weather. Finally we looked at the forecast for Monday to see if the weather and temperature would be okay to fly! Our trip is booked and we will be flying to Iqaluit Monday at 1:40 pm!
After our morning meeting we moved into snack and enjoyed some cool science videos and experiments while we crunched and munched our snacks.
We then moved into writing and practiced the letter H! We learned about the sounds it makes and where it can be found in words. Students then had to create sentences using the letter H and our wow words!
After gym with Mr Sadowsky doing centers we had some time for math. The students of room 5 worked hard all week doing addition, so today we did some graphing of shapes! Students had to look for different shapes with a grouping of shapes and graph how many of each were found. They had to answer some questions afterwards that related to most, least, and how many of specific shapes were found. The extension activity had students searching the room for shapes in the graph in a real environment.
We finished up our week by having a sharing circle talking about how our week went, what zone we were in and something we were looking forward to this weekend.
Overall it was a fantastic first week back!
Hope everyone has a great weekend and we will see you Monday :)
Stay safe, stay warm!
Mr Lancee
