Today in room 5:
Today was dress a like a teacher and teachers dress like students day. I was overjoyed to see the number of students that dressed up as me today! Way to go on those fake beards!
We started our morning by quickly handing out the pillars of care ribbons before heading off to the gym to sing O Canada and Garbage for the school. The grade twos did a fantastic job singing loudly for all to hear. We then quickly hurried back to class to announce who won each of the pillars of care and watch the rest of the school announce their winners.
After snack and some go noodles I then gave the students a chunk of time to finish writing their stories. I went through each of them today, and I have to say I loved hearing all of the students creative ideas!
We then moved into mathletics focusing on measurement. The students focused on the concept of length and how to measure and compare the length of different objects.
Today we moved our mindfulness outside to try out a "Sit Spot". When we do sit sit spots we find a spot in nature and use our senses to observe and appreciate our surroundings. The students loved using their senses to smell the wind, touch the grass, hear leaves rustling and watch the clouds roll by. After our sit spot we enjoyed some play outside using our classroom balls.
We finished up our day by having a sharing circle before cleaning the room and heading on our way!
