We began our day with some quiet reading and time to finish planning our characters and settings. 

After our morning meeting we had a quick snack before getting to some story writing. Today we learned some ways to start our stories. Opening lines such as once upon a time, one day, one night, it was a warm/cold summer day are just a few of the ideas we came up with. Students then got to work taking their planned characters and writing about how they fit into a setting they created. Next week we will be adding in problems and how to solve the problems!

After recess on the playground we moved into math. Today we learned some measurement vocabulary! We talked about length, width, height and the distance around an object. Students then used interlock cubes to measure the different dimensions of their book box!

When we finished lunch the students had their final session of kickball before heading inside for social. 

The students loved the social lesson today! We used ipads to research different land and sea animals in Meteghan and the maritimes. We then compared them to some of the animals we see here! Students then were given some plasticine to build their animal while simultaneously looking at their ipad to catch all the details. I have taken a picture of all of them and we will add them to our Meteghan mural hopefully tomorrow!
